Accelerated Learning Summer Program at Mill Springs Academy

Mill Springs Academy, partnering with Therapy and Learning Center of GA and Renaissance Learning, is pleased to announce our Accelerated Learning Summer Program (ALSP). The program is designed to provide targeted and individual instruction in six key areas: language development, decoding, reading comprehension, writing, mathematics, and social skills. As a child ages, the gaps in learning can significantly interfere with academic achievement. Classroom instruction focuses on grade-level standards throughout the school year and leaves little time to accelerate any achievement gaps. Research suggests the best way to close achievement gaps is with additional instruction time. Our Accelerated Learning Summer Program provides students with this opportunity. Along with intensive, targeted instruction by an experienced tutor, students will have the opportunity to practice at their own level skill development using software programs from Renaissance Learning at home. Learning is a social experience. We also offer a one-week social skills camp in addition to instruction in academic areas. Many students struggle in the classroom because they do not understand the social language of school.  ALSP offers one-week social skills camps organized by grade level: Lower (K-5), Middle (6-8), and Upper (9-12). This camp is appropriate for children and teens diagnosed with Level 1 Autism., ADHD, language disorders, and pragmatic language weaknesses.

ALSP is staffed by qualified and experienced educators, including speech and language pathologists, licensed family therapists, reading teachers, special education teachers, ELA teachers, and math teachers. The program includes support from undergraduate interns working alongside experienced teachers to enhance the individual attention provided to students.
